Paragliding is a recreational and competing sport event of flying paragliders-lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no set basic structure. The pilot sits in a harness hung below a fabric wing. Wing shape is sustained by the suspension lines, and the force of air penetrating vents in the front of the wing, and the aerodynamic capabilities of the air moving over the surface.
Notwithstanding not using an engine, paraglider flights can continue for many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometres, though flights of one to two hours and covering some tens of kilometres are more the norm.
